Pushing the Boundaries of Science
Medicine has no concept of ‘standing still,’ because diseases never stop: they evolve and change. Our duty as physicians is not only to use existing knowledge but also to generate new knowledge.
For our team, 2025 marked a peak in academic productivity. We contributed across a broad spectrum, from real-world data on prognostic tests in breast cancer to the genetic codes of HPV-related cancers, from AI-assisted analyses in rectal cancer to the boundaries of liquid biopsy. These studies are more than academic texts: each is a step toward better, more personalized, and more effective treatment for our patients.

Academic Leadership: Special Issue Editorships
To guide scientific communication and shape global oncology discussions, we have undertaken ‘Guest Editor’ roles in high-impact international journals. In 2025, we managed three major collections spanning viral oncology and precision medicine.
A special issue addressing the cancer-related role of the HPV family, with more than 100 types, its molecular mechanisms, diagnostic tools, and new vaccine strategies globally. This collection contributed 12 comprehensive articles to the literature.
A comprehensive clinical collection examining the molecular foundations, biomarkers, and immunotherapy potential of major cancer-causing infectious agents—not only HPV but also EBV, Hepatitis B/C, KSHV, HTLV-1, and H. pylori.
A research topic combining patient-derived organoids, multiomics profiling, and liquid biopsy to shape the future of ‘personalized cancer treatment’ through studies of tumor heterogeneity and drug resistance.
Published Books
Papillomavirus-Induced Oncogenesis: Current Insights
Publisher: MDPI, 2025
An international reference work addressing the molecular foundations and current treatment strategies of HPV-related cancers worldwide.
Kalıtsal Kanserler Kitabı
Scope: National
The first national reference work in Türkiye to address hereditary cancer syndromes through an interdisciplinary approach.
Innovation: From Theory to Practice
We are active with two ventures combining technology and medicine to turn academic knowledge into bedside benefit: CheckTheLife and CRISERNA.

Knowledge Multiplies When Shared and Deepens When Created.
This list is more than a record of one year: it reflects our determination in the fight against cancer. Our greatest motivation is knowing that every piece of knowledge generated in 2025 across this broad spectrum—from laboratory to clinic, editorial desk to entrepreneurial ecosystem—may one day touch a patient’s life.
I thank all my teammates, assistants, and scientific partners who contributed. We will continue working toward more in 2026.
