What Are the Current Prices of New-Generation Cancer Drugs?

In this article
The drugs used in cancer treatment today span a broad range, from antibody–drug conjugates and immunotherapies to targeted precision molecules and conventional chemotherapy — and a large proportion of these drugs are now taken orally at home rather than intravenously in hospital . The table below presents the current pharmacy retail prices of oncology medicines licensed and available on the Turkish market: product name on the pack, active ingredient, formulation and dose, drug type, marketing authorization holder, and VAT-inclusive price.
Source and date of the prices: The prices in this list are based on the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK) reference price list dated 14 August 2026 . For most oncology drugs, the price currently in force was set by the annual update of 31 March 2026, and for some by the update of 14 August 2026. Drug prices may change during the year in line with euro exchange-rate adjustments, public-sector discounts, changes to equivalent-drug groups, and SGK reimbursement conditions.
These prices are not the amount the patient will pay out of pocket. It is very important to understand this distinction:
- The retail priceis the VAT-inclusive list price of a prescription medicine dispensed at a pharmacy. This is the price applicable to oral medicines.
- Medicines administered intravenously in hospital are not purchased at this price. Public hospitals and institutions contracted with SGK buy the medicine at a much lower price after the public-sector discount . The figure in the table gives an idea of that medicine’s market value; it is not reflected directly on the bill.
- For a medicine covered by SGK reimbursement, the patient pays only the co-payment. For medicines outside reimbursement coverage, the entire amount falls to the patient. A medicine being licensed in Türkiye does not mean that SGK pays for it — these are separate processes.
Comprehensive Oncology Drug Price Reference List
The list covers, under 15 headings, a total of 178 products : in addition to intravenously administered biological agents, immunotherapies, and antibody–drug conjugates, it includes oral targeted drugs, hormonal treatments, and oral chemotherapy medicines frequently used in everyday practice.

Oncology Drugs Without a Retail Price in Türkiye
Some medicines are not included in the TİTCK price list because they are not licensed in Türkiye. They are imported through the Turkish Pharmacists’ Association’s Overseas Medicine Procurement service , and their prices are generally quoted in euros rather than TL; for most of them, SGK reimbursement is subject to a separate application process.
| Medicine | Active ingredient | Status |

| Lenvima | Lenvatinib | Imported medicine. The lenvatinib product licensed in Türkiye is Lenvapem(included in the table). |
| Ibrance | Palbociclib | Imported medicine. Palbociclib products licensed in Türkiye: Reampla, Paldibo, Palbopol, Repalbo. |
| Kisqali | Ribociclib | Imported medicine. Licensed ribociclib: Valamor. |

What You Need to Know When Reading This Table
Why do different strengths of the same medicine cost the same?
Because of pricing rules in Türkiye, for some medicines all strengths have the same price. Examples include Tagrisso 40 mg and 80 mg, Giotrif 20-30-40 mg, Cabometyx 20-40-60 mg, Yulareb 50-100-150 mg, Reampla 75-100-125 mg, and Zytiga 250 mg and 500 mg. This is not a typographical error — the price per pack is fixed, and differences in strength do not affect it.
Practical implication: A dose reduction does not lower a patient’s drug cost. For example, reducing Tagrisso from 80 mg to 40 mg does not change the pack price.
Are generics always cheaper?
No. There are clear examples in this list:
- Pemetrexed: Original Alimta 500 mg costs 26.762,70 TL , while some generics reach 28.292,64 TL and even 33.286,36 TL.
- Trastuzumab: Original Herceptin costs 12.668,50 TL; biosimilars range from 11.800,65 to 12.668,50 TL — the difference does not exceed 7%.
- Palbociclib: Here the difference is substantial — the original costs 32.790,07 TL, whereas generics drop to as low as 21.404,62 TL (approximately 35% cheaper).
Under the equivalent-drug system, SGK reimburses at the price of the cheapest medicine in the same equivalent group; the patient pays the difference. Therefore, choosing the most expensive generic may leave the patient paying a larger difference than with the original.
What is a biosimilar, and how does it differ from a generic?
A genericis an exact copy of a chemically synthesized small-molecule drug (for example, imatinib or abiraterone). A biosimilar is a highly similar copy of large protein molecules produced in living cells — such as trastuzumab, bevacizumab, or rituximab. Biosimilars are not “identical,” but products with “no clinically meaningful differences,” and separate comparative studies are required for licensing. They can be used in place of the reference product in terms of efficacy and safety.
Why are the prices so high?
Some figures in the table are for a single pack, and treatment generally lasts for months. For example, Xospata 40 mg, 84 tablets costs 577.948,41 TL and corresponds to approximately one month of treatment. By contrast, in the same list, a 5-Fluorouracil 1000 mg vial costs 268,36 TL. The thousandfold difference reflects not how good the drug is, but its development costs, patent status, and the size of the patient group it targets.
Price is not an indicator of efficacy. An expensive drug may not work for your type of cancer; an inexpensive drug may save lives. In breast cancer, tamoxifen costs 367,73 TL for 30 tablets and has saved thousands of lives for decades. The right medicine is not the most expensive one, but the one that fits the biology of your tumor .
My medicine is not listed. What should I do?
There are three possibilities: (1) it is not licensed in Türkiye and is being obtained as an overseas medicine; (2) it has just been licensed and is not yet included in this list; (3) its price was updated after this list was prepared. In all cases, definitive information should be based on the pharmacy’s electronic system or TİTCK’s current price list.
An honest note on sources and limitations: This list was compiled from medicine databases reflecting TİTCK’s official reference price list (ilacrehberi.com, ilacabak.com, vademecumonline.com.tr), and approximately 15 products were cross-checked between two independent sources down to the kuruş. Nevertheless, it is a secondary compilation; TİTCK’s own “Current Detailed Price List” should be used for official procedures and financial decisions. Products whose prices could not be confirmed at the source were not included; TL prices were not invented for overseas medicines, which are presented under a separate heading.
This page is for information and does not contain treatment recommendations. Your physician selects medication according to the type and stage of cancer, its molecular characteristics, previous treatments, organ function, and coexisting illnesses. A check through the pharmacy’s electronic system is recommended for the current price and reimbursement status.
