You Will Be Surprised to Hear Which Product Contains High Levels of Carcinogenic Benzene

Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are electronic devices that imitate smoking and are used similarly to conventional cigarettes. They have a power source (battery), cartridge and atomizer. While their long-term effects remain unclear, a newly published PLOS ONE study revealed striking findings. Liquids used to produce e-cigarette vapor can generate a wide variety of decomposition products.
Nearly all e-liquids contain mixtures of propylene glycol and glycerin in varying proportions. Both are used to create artificial smoke. Their ratio determines factors such as vapor volume.
Benzene Formation in Electronic Cigarettes!
The study investigated benzene formation from propylene glycol, glycerol, benzoic acid, the flavoring chemical benzaldehyde and nicotine in e-cigarette liquids. Benzene is an important human carcinogen .
Benzene, a gasoline component, is associated with diseases including leukemia and bone marrow failure. It occurs in urban air from industrial emissions and unburned gasoline escaping in exhaust.
Electronic cigarettes use an electrical resistance coil to vaporize mixtures of propylene glycol (PG), glycerol (GL), nicotine and flavoring chemicals. Vaporizing an e-liquid mainly containing PG and / or GL requires approximately 190 to 290 ° C: at ambient pressure of 1 atm, PG boils at 190 ° C, GL at 290 ° C, and PG + GL mixtures at approximately 190 ° C to 290 ° C. Other components, such as water and flavorings, affect the boiling point. Heating PG and GL can produce multiple toxic substances. Losing one water molecule produces acetaldehyde from PG, while losing two produces acrolein from GL.
To test benzene formation, 3 different devices were used. One allowed users to change only the flavor, while the other two had adjustable power. Benzene in the mixture was measured by gas chromatography / mass spectrometry. A clean tank and new coil were used for each sample to detect gaseous benzene.
The findings showed that devices, particularly at high power, produced 100 times more benzene than ordinary air.
In conclusion, detecting benzene in electronic cigarettes is important: a 2013 study identified it as the largest cancer-related harmful component of air in America. Long-term exposure must not be underestimated, and I believe it is worth emphasizing again that we recommend neither cigarettes nor electronic cigarettes.
