Homeopathy (Diluted Medicine) Experts Arrested - Their Studies Proved Fraudulent

Homeopathy (Diluted Medicine) Experts Arrested - Their Studies Proved Fraudulent

A journal article claiming successful homeopathic cancer treatment was retracted after strange events, including the arrest of its two lead authors.

Homeopathy is an alternative method based on like cures like , using products diluted almost tens of thousands of times. Despite having among the weakest evidence, it regained popularity through claims of water memory. Animal, plant or mineral components are diluted thousands of times. One popular product is fluid derived from skin damage caused by the scabies parasite.

Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine published the article, which was retracted in late February after reader concerns prompted a formal investigation.

It concerned psorinum treatmentand its use for stomach, gallbladder, pancreatic and liver cancers. A peculiar homeopathic favorite, psorinum is described as a substance prepared from skin wounds/lesions caused by scabies .

Homeopaths try it for psoriasis, gastric ulcers and insomnia without evidence of healing. Claims of cancer treatment, however, had rarely appeared before.

The retracted paper's lead authors were father and son Aradeep and Ashim Chatterjee. They established a clinic in 2001 to test homeopathy in cancer, administering scabies fluid with other homeopathic substances in the complete absence of conventional cancer drugs.

The experiments were criticized for lacking clinical trial ethics and rules, including no control or placebo group receiving standard treatment for comparison.

That was not the only oddity. India's Kolkata was the setting: although the clinic received approval from the Indian Critical Cancer Management Research Center in 2001, it opened only in 2008.

Aradeep was arrested in June 2017 and his father in August 2017 for practicing medicine without appropriate qualifications .

Of four other authors, three said they did not agree with the results; the fourth did not respond.

Other journals publishing their papers were contacted and editors are investigating, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Despite these events undermining both the supposed research and its authors' credibility, many homeopaths continue claiming cancer cures with psorinum and other diluted potions continue claiming that they treat cancer. Please, let us finally put an end to these alternative deceptions.
